Novels published by Simon Petherick can be viewed together on my Amazon author page here.

Under my own name, I mostly write novels and occasional short stories (such as this one here which is planned to be a part of a collection about death which may come out at some point). The novels seem to me to have clear threads and themes linking them all and I can imagine several more emerging over the next few years pursuing those themes.

I have plenty of literary heroes: Ford Madox Ford, Jean Rhys, Ernest Hemingway, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Milan Kundera, Elizabeth Bowen, Jack Kerouac. Of all of my heroes, Jack Kerouac was perhaps the most flawed in terms of his output, but I have such an affection for the man and the writer. Surely no one could resist a man who could write:

The world you see is just a movie in your mind.
Rocks dont see it.
Bless and sit down.
Forgive and forget.
Practice kindness all day to everybody
and you will realize you’re already
in heaven now.
That’s the story.
That’s the message.
Nobody understands it,
nobody listens, they’re
all running around like chickens with heads cut
off. I will try to teach it but it will
be in vain, s’why I’ll
end up in a shack
praying and being
cool and singing
by my woodstove
making pancakes.
